Bugatti Type 55 Coupe

The Bugatti type 55 is one of the most beautifull sports car of all time. This model influenced designers all around the world, this car beeing an art object.

There were about forty cars built, using a collection of surplus components from unsuccesful buggati models. Its chasis came from the Bugatti type 47 and the engine came from the Buggati type 51 Grand Prix car. Some type 55's had bodies by well known coachbuilders, but the standard roadster without dorrs was built at the Bugatti factory in Alsace.

The engines are complex and require extensive and expensive maintenance, but every Type 55 is cherished as a work of art as well as a exeptional vehicle to be driven on special ocations or special events.
A replica of the type 55 was built by Xavier de la Chapellein the late 1970's and it's posiible that there were more type 55 imitations than real ones but the slightest look under the hood told the difference.

There were about nine thousand Buggati's built and all were works of art. Carlo Buggati, an artist-cabinetmaker from Milan, had two sons: Rembrandt, a celebrated sculptor of cars, and Ettore whose mechanical intuition led to this wonderfull car.
